Music Workshop on Saturday

24/10/2012 22:56

The theory of multiple intelligences states that many students learn through a musical/rhythmic style. Integrating music into an English class (through drama and poetical songs) or a history class (through cultural musical context) is a lot more straight-forward than in the math or science subjects. This workshop provides hands-on activities for integrating musical learning with math and science learning in a way that uses music as a concept, rather than simply a tool.

   Participants will learn how to feel comfortable with musical activities in general, and participate in three specifically integrated mini-lessons;

   -Relating the scientific water-cycle to musical song-cycles

   -Relating musical rhythmic notation to mathematical concepts

   -Relating the musical physics of sound waves and overtones to a physics science unit
